S.B.Traders

S.B.Traders is run by Rajeev Verma whose marble business is based out of Agra, home of one of the seven wonders of the world, the Taj Mahal. Rajeev was trained as a young child by his father, who started S.B.Traders in 1976. Rajeev joined his father in their family firm in 1986, when S.B.Traders was doing good business.

In its heyday, S.B. employed around 80 artisans, all of whom worked with marble stone to make intricately carved vases, jewellery boxes and candle holders. Competition, lack of demand and changing tastes have made the marble business more difficult to sustain today. To add to his woes, Rajeev recently suffered the loss of his father who had mentored him through the years.

Rajeev has two children, a girl and a boy, who both attend school. Such are the challenging times Rajeev is facing that he would rather see his children pursue other careers than follow him into the family marble business.
